Wigle Straight Whiskey

A "Straight Whiskey," by definition, is one that is a minimum of 2 years old. Now, that's just a baby in whiskey time, but considering Wigle has built their product from ground zero, from local grains, without cutting any corners (something a rare few distilleries in the whole country can say), 2 years of surviving — strike that — thriving as a business is a heck of an achievement. What better way to celebrate than a no-holds barred whiskey package featuring a brand new bottle style and a custom label, featuring a "Lost History of Whiskey" booklet? You can even get your own bottle here.

Straight Rye Whiskey, front and back.
Straight Wheat Whiskey, front.
These small illustrations help tell the story of whiskey in Western Pennsylvania, from Abraham Overholt’s original grist mill (left) to the burning of the governor’s house to mark the beginning of the Whiskey Rebellion (upper right).
These illustrations are part of a small, 16-panel booklet which is attached to the back of each bottle of straight whiskey, called “The Lost History of Whiskey in Pre-Prohibition America,” centered largely around Western PA, believe it or now. The story begins with the government’s introduction of the alchohol tax, walks through the violence of The Whiskey Rebellion, the money-making savvy of crooked industrialists, forbidden love…it’s a real roller coaster ride!
